Final Class Reflection

Wow!! I can't believe this class is over, it went by sooo fast. I am not the most experienced computer user so I am pretty proud of myself with how all of the assignments and projects turned out. I am anxious to use what I have learned in my own classroom. I cannot just name one specific item that I enjoyed the most. The Treasure Hunt presentations were a great idea. I am taking so many useful teacher websites with me that I definitely plan on using throughout the school year. Creating my own blog was a lot of fun and so easy to do, so hopefully I can introduce Blogger to my own students and have them utilize it in some way. All of these different neat programs I never knew how to do before now come easily to me and I am very excited about knowing how to utilize each one.
I really enjoyed (after a bit of frustration) creating the slideshow and digital storybook projects. My slideshow was a jeopardy-like quiz game geared toward the grade level that I teach (3rd grade). The game quizzes the students on the areas of Math, Language, and Books. I do plan on using this game this coming school year with my students. Once they see how I've created such a fun concept by using Powerpoint, I can have them create a Powerpoint presentation of some sort.
For my digital storybook I struggled at first with coming up with a concept to use. We are in the middle of summer so I thought, why not narrate different pictures that represent summer? That is what I ended up doing and I thought it turned it well. I had about fourteen different pictures of events/outings that happen during the summer. I described each picture throughout the movie while classical music is being played in the background. This would be a great project for my students to do. I could have them work in groups and retell different stories through imovie and have them present the movie to the whole class.
There are so many new computer tools I learned in this class and I am anxious to eventually use all of them in my own classroom.

Class Reflection #7

The Treasure Hunt presentations were again extremely interesting and valuable. I really enjoyed the Readinglady.com, there were many valuable tools that I know I can use in the future. So many of my ideas for the next school year are going to be from all of the sites I learned about through all of the presentations. I was very behind on Friday with my digital storybook but luckily I was able to finish it up today. I am very happy with the final product and I hope everyone is able to enjoy it!!

Class Reflection #6

I really enjoyed looking at the Laura Candler website during the Treasure Hunt presentations on Friday. There is a variety of different items to select from such as lesson plans and activities for students to do. It is a very user-friendly site which makes it less intimidating and easy to explore through. I know I will definitely be utilizing the website this coming school year. As for our digital storybooks, I am happy with the project I selected to do but I am having difficulty with the computers in the lab. As Jennifer had also mentioned in her blog the computer I am using is so slow and it is taking me a long time just to get started. I finally have all of my pictures entered so hopefully tomorrow I can move further along.

Class Reflection #5

Today in class I really enjoyed looking at the different websites for rubrics that are available to teachers. I particularly enjoyed Rubistar the best. It is very hands on and there are many options to choose from depending on the subject that the rubric is being used for.
As for the digital video storyboard I am really stuck as to what to do mine on. I will be doing some heavy thinking between today and tomorrow. I don't have a digital camera so all of my pictures will have to be scanned which should be interesting. Hopefully I can come up with something creative and fun to view.
